A magazine by the students and alumni of Central Saint Martins. Annual. 1 Granary celebrates to the most promising, established and respected voices in fashion. A yearbook dedicated to the next generation, but also an incitement to get you thinking and questioning.

With unprecedented honesty and depth, 1 Granary Issue 6 dives into the work and lives of fashion designers today. As a response to the construction of desire and personality cults that govern our industry, the magazine steps away from the conventional profiles and editorials, focussing instead on raw work and anonymous, unfiltered testimonies. For the first time ever, readers are given a truthful insight into the process, dreams, fears, hardships, and struggles of today’s creatives.

Going beyond the usual, superficial glorification of creativity, the issue both celebrates and analyses the value of design by showcasing the complexity of a designer’s journey, from initial inspiration to final fitting. Visuals for the issue center around sketchbooks, illustrations, fittings and behind the scenes shoots of both new and established names, accompanied by an in-depth explanation of their work and creative process. More than ever, the magazine is a unique, timeless source of education for our readers and aspiring designers.

Issue features include: Giulia Mensitieri, Does Iit really take a genius?, Are design skills all you need? Why are we burning out? Notes on originality, and more.
