A very special edition indeed! From Luncheon Magazine comes Lockdown Luncheons.
About the issue: Lockdown Luncheons began at the start of the first lockdown, when Luncheon Magazine reached out to friends and collaborators asking for lunch suggestions, which were comforting, and could be made easily in isolation. At the time, these recipes were shared daily on Instagram, and are now compiled in this book (along with new ones from lockdown part 2!) as a beautiful memento of this crazy time in all of our lives. The recipes, photographs, paintings and illustrations were created by designers, poets, cooks, writers, photographers and artists, and are accompanied by personal stories of where the recipes originated, what they mean to each person, or who they would love to cook for when everyone can meet and eat together again. Also peppered throughout the issue are specially crafted ads for contributor-selected food security and community organizations, in an effort to raise awareness for these operations. (Since this is a London-based publication, many of these programs operate overseas, but, while you're reading this, if you're looking for a great local food security initiative to support, we highly recommend Community Fridges Toronto (CFTO). CFTO is a volunteer-run organization which maintains several outdoor public-access fridges and pantries across the city. These fridges operate on a 'take what you need, leave what you can' basis.
